As a businessman myself, I have held Sam Bahour in high regard for his spot-on analysis of the real road blocks to peace and prosperity in Palestine.  I have talked with him several times and avidly read and circulate his trenchant pieces.  This is a rare opportunity to see Sam in Chicago and I wouldn't miss it for anything.  Please join me in attending this conference, and don't miss Sam's keynote address, which will surely challenge our thinking, stretch our understanding and give us a glimpse of a way forward.”
--Ed Thompson, member of the conference planning committee

Bahour’s address at 7 p.m. Friday, “Confronting the Myths Regarding Peace, Justice and Economic Investment in Palestine,” headlines an impressive group of speakers who, along with provocative panels and interactive workshops, add up to an intense and rewarding couple of days.

ANTI-APARTHEID ICON REV. DR. ALLAN BOESAK
TO GIVE CLOSING ADDRESS AT
CHICAGO SABEEL CONFERENCE

I look forward to learning from Dr. Boesak’s deep-rooted history and involvement as a liberation theologian and outspoken anti-Apartheid critic and opponent.  To have the opportunity to hear a man who has lived the struggle and sacrificed himself for social justice is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I eagerly anticipate.  Given his work in the church, within the community, the African National Congress, and fighting for the rights of gays and lesbians, Dr. Boesak has a message that all can benefit from.  As an African American I eagerly anticipate hearing his message of liberation.

RABBI BRANT ROSEN AND CECILIE SURASKY
SPEAK AT THE WIDE TENT

Two influential Jewish voices for justice in Israel/Palestine will be featured at the multi-faith “A Wide Tent for Justice” conference October 4-5 at St. James Cathedral in Chicago.

Rabbi Brant Rosen, Chair of the Rabbinic Council of Jewish Voice for Peace, author and popular blogger will be on the opening panel Friday afternoon.   Cecilie Surasky Deputy Director, Jewish Voice for Peace will speak Saturday morning.  They are among activists from Christian, Muslim and secular backgrounds who will lead the conference.
I am thrilled that both Rabbi Brant Rosen and Cecilie Surasky are speaking at this conference.  Brant is an inspiration for his incredible courage at speaking his heart publicly and at great risk on this issue.  And I look to the brilliant and enthralling Cecilie for her uncanny ability to reframe the issues and give us compelling ideas for communicating our message.
